The Crankie Show

The Crankie Show is a dynamic stage narrative and visual art exhibition where Mark Making partnered with the AIM Center and Hart Gallery to amplify the voices of visual artists living with serious mental illnesses. During the first phase of the project, the AIM and Hart Center artists created illustrated scrolls depicting an aspect of their life stories. Next, the artists shared their stories with Peggy Douglas who transformed their words into poetic monologues. In the final phase of the project, Frances McDonald and Randy Fairchild of Mark Making fabricated the Crankie boxes and installed the scrolls. The end result is a performance of visual panoramas cranked as the stories are narrated.
