This month, we are excited to do something that has never been done in the history of SouthEast Best. All the strings have been pulled, and we have assembled a legendary panel of Chattanooga Developers.
Across our 4 panelists, over 2 billion dollars of real estate has been developed. So, who will be there?
Ken DeFoor: We have had the privilege of having Ken at SE Best before, and learning how he and his brother built their business, DeFoor Brothers Hospitality. Ken first started developing property in 1985. He has developed over 500,000 square feet of office space, and currently manages a flagship portfolio of hotels, restaurants, parking garages and retail in The West Village that he has developed.
Ethan Collier: Ethan founded Collier Construction in 2001. Collier has since grown to be a thriving locally owned construction company in Chattanooga. To date, they have developed over 350M of their own projects across hundreds of homes and multifamily projects. Collier is the driving force behind Mill Town, A $200M development. Ethan currently sits as the Chairman of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.
Adam Kinsey: Adam is a real estate developer and entrepreneur specializing in urban, mixed-use projects with a strong focus on housing solutions. Since 2001, he has been involved in over $700 million of development projects that transform downtown areas by creating integrated living, working, and entertainment environments.
Adam Kinsey: As leader of the Chattanooga Choo Choo project from 2015 to 2022, Kinsey transformed the historic site into a 24-acre entertainment district featuring nearly 500 residences
alongside modernized hotel rooms, eateries, music venues, and pedestrian-friendly
spaces. His strategic approach included dividing the property into ten parcels from 2020 to 2022, maximizing returns while preserving the integrated residential component.
Kinsey is now concentrating on urban infill projects in Southside and South Chattanooga,
with a specific mission to introduce diverse housing options for all income levels. This
focus on inclusive housing development reflects his commitment to addressing Chattanooga's housing needs across economic demographics.
He serves on the boards of the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance, Invest Chattanooga, and the Chattanooga Housing Authority, where his housing expertise directly influences policy and development decisions. He is also a founding member of the Chattanooga Parks and Outdoor Advisory Committee
Clint Dean: Clint has been a builder for over 25 years. He co-founded Modus Build, a local commercial builder in Chattanooga. If you have driven around our city very long, you have probably seen multiple Modus Build signs around. Clint and his team are building and remodeling some of Chattanooga’s most cutting edge and historic buildings. Before co-founding Modus Build, Clint served as Executive Vice President for EMJ — One of the nation's largest commercial builders. After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at Auburn University, Clint joined EMJ. Over the next two decades, Clint garnered a reputation for excellence, leadership, innovation + an ability to deliver bottom line value to clients across the country. His commitment to client service + servant leadership helped him rise quickly — from entry level engineer to the Executive Leadership team.
