How the Lula Lake Land Trust is meeting the threat of the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, led by Patrick Kelly.
Happening on the third Wednesday of every month, Nature by the Pint is a presentation and discussion series led by individuals passionate about a specific topic—often related to nature and the outdoors, particularly in the Chattanooga region. From caves to mushrooms to winemaking, NBTP offers something for everyone, all while you sip on a brew at Oddstory Brewing Company.
Join Patrick Kelly, Stewardship Director at Lula Lake Land Trust, as he discusses their efforts to protect local hemlock forests. Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) is a destructive invasive pest threatening the survival of Eastern Hemlock forests throughout the Southeast. At Lula Lake Land Trust, we have developed an integrated management program to protect the hemlock forests of Lookout Mountain. This presentation will share the history of our efforts, from the early days of treatment to our current strategies, and will look ahead to the future of hemlock conservation.
