A musical journey through the birthplace of rock 'n' roll and the sound that shook the world.
Join three Tennessee artists through the historical archives of Memphis's own Sun Records - playing the classics.
Sun Records, founded in 1952 by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the most influential labels in American music history. It became the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll by blending blues, country, gospel, and rhythm & blues into a groundbreaking new sound. Phillips championed raw, unpolished artists and believed that real emotion mattered more than perfection.
The label launched the careers of legends including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. Its small, unassuming studio on Union Avenue became a cultural landmark, capturing some of the most important early recordings in rock, rockabilly, and country music. Sun Records remains a symbol of musical innovation, artistic freedom, and the beginning of a global cultural shift.
