Fellow Modellers,
2025 being the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, this year has been deemed to be “Rail 200”.
As part of the year’s celebrations, there are a number of major events taking place at locations around the country.
Over the Spring Bank Holiday, 24th to 26th May, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway will be holding its ever popular Steam Gala. With 10 locomotives in Steam and a wide range of activities taking place at Toddington and Winchcombe, Andrew Goodman the owner of RSS (Railway Support Services) is organising a display of 7mm locomotives, from across the ages, in the Tim Mitchell building at Winchcombe. Andrew would like to gather together 200 locomotives, representing the development of all forms of railway motive power, used throughout the UK, since the advent of steam in those early days.
In particular, Andrew is looking for examples of locomotives built between 1830 and 1890. If you have any models which you would consider lending for display at this event, then he would very much like to hear from you.
The models will be displayed in locked cabinets and it is intended that there will be a presence on site, during the duration of the event. The Tim Mitchell building is a full secured, brick-built structure and the security of the models is of the highest priority.
A suitable description of each locomotive will accompany each model and acknowledgement given as to the builder/owner. Models can be collected in the weeks leading up to the event and will be returned to the owners, immediately afterwards.
So far, approximately 130 locomotives have been promised, so Andrew is well on the way to achieving what will be a superb display.
Can you help to complete the target?
