Island Jazz feat Harmony Wagner with Rob Drew

Island jazz presents Harmony Wagner with Rob Drew, an acoustic guitar and vocal duo distilling the classic jazz standards down into their most intimate form. At age 14, Harmony got a job at a cafe that played Ella and Louis on repeat and her love affair with singing the standards began. This new partnership celebrates the songs that give us “the really big feels and have captivated so many for the past hundred years for this very reason.”

Harmony Wagner is an award-winning PEI filmmaker who began as a childhood performer for theatre and television. She wrote episodes of The Big Comfy Couch and produced IPF web series BunnyBop which was nominated for best International Pilot in the Children’s and Youth category at the Banff World Media Festival. Her first short film VAST won two audience awards and her film Queen of the Crows was selected for CBC’s Short Film Face Off and Telefilm Canada’s Not Short On Talent program at the Cannes Film Festival. Her comedy feature film Kooperman played at festivals across the country and her second feature as writer/director/producer Singing To Myself was a recipient of a 1K Wave Atlantic award and premiered at the 2016 Atlantic Film Festival.

ECMA-nominated guitarist Rob Drew has performed Classical, Flamenco and Traditional Irish guitar on PEI for the past 25 years. With multiple nominations for Classical Musician of the Year in PEI, Robert has been featured at the East Coast Music Awards, Contact East, and many festivals and events throughout the Maritimes. Rob’s debut album “Ocean Suite” featuring his wife’s solo guitar compositions was nominated for "Classical Recording of the Year" at the 2005 East Coast Music Awards. Rob currently operates Fretworks Guitar Studio in Charlottetown.
