The Charlottesville Jazz Society Presents The JD Allen Trio

The Charlottesville Jazz Society and WTJU Present tenor saxophonist JD Allen and his trio at Unity of Charlottesville on Thursday, October 16th at 7:30 pm.

JD Allen / Ian Kenselaar / Nic Cacioppo form a trio defined by raw energy, deep listening, and unflinching honesty. Led by renowned tenor saxophonist and composer JD Allen, the group embraces spontaneity and form in equal measure, carving out a sound that is both rooted in jazz tradition and relentlessly forward-moving.
Bassist Ian Kenselaar brings a grounded, resonant touch that anchors and expands the trio’s harmonic space, while drummer Nic Cacioppo’s dynamic, deeply responsive playing fuels the group’s rhythmic fire.
