Morven Japanese Tea Ceremony - October 10

Step into the world of Chanoyu—the Way of Tea—and experience the deep connection between nature and tradition. Set in a tranquil outdoor setting, this Japanese tea ceremony invites you to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the present moment through the ritual of preparing and sharing tea.

To prepare for your visit, please carefully review the following:

• You must provide your own transportation for this event.
• The ceremony will run from 11:00AM - 12:30PM, please plan to arrive to Morven no later than 10:45AM. This will provide time for check in and reaching the garden by 11:00AM to start the ceremony.
• Participants should plan to stay for the entirety of the event to complete the ceremony.
• Guests who arrive after the ceremony begins at 11:00AM will not be able to participate.
• Use the directions and address below to route yourself to Morven
• When you arrive, you will check in at the gatehouse from there, you will be directed into the property. A team member will greet you and guide you to the Japanese Garden.
• No shoes are allowed in the Japanese house or on the porch, please bring white socks to change into for the ceremony and for while you are inside the space.
• Please be aware that you will be seated on the floor for this ceremony.

From I-64, take Exit 121A (Rte 20 South/Scottsville) and follow signs to Monticello, turning left onto Rte 53/Thomas Jefferson Parkway. From Monticello, continue east on Thomas Jefferson Parkway (Rte 53), after passing the church with a red roof, you will bear right on James Monroe Parkway (Rte 795) and continue past Highland for 1.4 miles. Entrance to Morven is on the right, noted by the “Morven” sign along a stone wall. Please check in at the gatehouse.
