Join local artist Jennifer York for an introduction to sketching workshop at the Charleston Museum. Using items from the Museum’s collection as inspiration, York will teach sketching from direct observation in both pencil and pen, enlivened by splashy watercolor. Participants will walk away from this workshop with multiple smaller practice sketches and one larger final sketch. This workshop is open to beginners and participants of all skill levels, age 13 and up. All supplies and equipment provided.
This July, participants will take inspiration from the Museum’s newest historic textile exhibitions, Reimagined Fashion: Creations of the Future Past, and learn how to create fashion illustrations.
Registration is required. Classes with insufficient enrollment may be canceled. Students will be notified in advance and full refunds or the opportunity to transfer to another workshop will be offered. Student cancellations must be requested 48 hours in advance for a refund minus $10 administration fee. Full registration fee may be transferred to a future workshop or other adult program. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will result in a forfeiture of the workshop fee.

Jennifer York is a Charleston-based artist and designer, named 2024 Griffith-Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year, with solo exhibitions at the Gibbes Museum of Art and the Myrtle Beach Art Museum.
