About the event

Shou Sugi Ban - The traditional Japanese method of naturally preserving wood
Join Master Gardener Jack Ingram for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to master the Shou Sugi Ban technique, creating stunning yakisugi-style wood projects that will last for generations. We’ll use a propane torch to char a 5.5” x 12” wood plaque, followed by nylon brushes to abrade it in preparation for the finish. Finally, we’ll apply diluted boiled linseed oil as a sealant to protect and enhance the treated wood. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to add a unique and durable touch to their woodworking projects. Please bring safety glasses.

Meet in the 4-H Building
