It seems that everyone in the Bootheel of Missouri has heard of Kenneth (KeeKee) Knupp. Some knew him from his wild days as a young man. Some have known him as a Professional Contractor and Painter.
A small few have the honor to call him Brother, Husband, Daddy and Paw Paw. He’s definitely a force and one of the strongest working men you’ll ever meet. At 65 he can outwork most men half his age. In April, 2017 a few days after being released from open heart surgery he was replacing a roof for a client that following weekend.
Kenneth doesn’t meet a stranger and would give them the shirt off of his back! We all know he would be the first in line to hold us up as we fought for our life. That’s exactly what Knupp Strong and Knuckles up for Knupp intend to do, be the support for Kenneth as he would be for everyone of us.
Early in 2024 Dad began complaining about a sore throat that turned into a sore at the back of his tongue that grew and grew until it began to inhibit his breathing and ability to swallow. That’s when he finally agreed to see a different doctor. Dads journey through Throat Cancer began the last week of May, 2025.
Dad learned from his Chemotherapy Oncologist, Dr Meadors yesterday morning, July 23rd the results of the PET scan he had done on the 18th. We had known he has Throat Cancer, specifically Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The biopsy performed July 3rd confirmed his Otolaryngologist suspicions. On July 23 we learned how far it had spread.
The cancer has spread to two lymph nodes on his right side, they are directly under the lesions found on his tongue. He DOES NOT have cancer anywhere else throughout his body!!
Dr Meadors said this type of cancer is 70% curable!!
Very positive information!!
The appointment to receive the port (how they will administer the chemotherapy, give blood and fluids) is scheduled for July 30th. The appointment with the Radiation Oncologist is July 29th. Afterwards they develop a plan best suited to attack this Cancer giving Dad his best chance to become part of the 70%.
Kenneth is determined, Cancer too shall not put him down!!
He continues to remain optimistic that he will be able to work throughout the chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Dad is passionate that he will recover for he is Knupp Stong!!!
We welcome you to join the Knupp Strong team. Join the facebook page to get updates on dad’s journey as we all Knuckle up for Knupp!!
