The Modern world, which has been unfolding over the last several centuries in the West, has brought with it great advances in every area of human striving; but it has also brought a sense of alienation, disorientation, and anguish that it has been powerless to heal. What if this is because it is looking in the wrong place, and doing so in a characteristically modern way? Informed by the great thinkers of the past, this lecture will argue that the cure for the modern condition lies in a resurrection of the imagination and its application to every aspect of human life.
