Join SCORE to construct Manufactured Wire Reefs (MWR) with Casual Crabbing that will be an alternative substrate for oyster larvae to land and grow on. Volunteers will help to cut, bend, and fasten galvanized wire to form a reef structure using power tools. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. You can bring a child as long as you are monitoring them and making sure they are safe during the event. Every participant will be asked to sign liability and photo releases at the start. We usually start at 9am and wrap up around noon, please arrive 5 minutes early to handle the paperwork. We will be participating in one or more of the following activities.
-Building MWRs (manufactured wire reefs)
-Planting spartina grass seedlings
-Building RCTs (recycled crab traps)
-Bagging recycled oyster shells
Volunteers are needed to participate every third Wednesday of the month. Our next volunteer opportunities are:

All of the tools and supplies will be provided by the SCORE program. You will have a chance to work side by side with Casual Crabbing crew as we work with the SCDNR to better our waterways. Wear clothing that you won't mind getting dirty, and closed toed shoes. Please email
