Southwest UK Equine Professionals Day: R+ based training/behaviour
Join us for a day of collaboration, learning, and growth as we bring together equine professionals to explore and expand practices in positive reinforcement-based training and behaviour science.
This event offers a unique opportunity to network with like-minded trainers while contributing to the advancement of our field.
The day will feature 8 sessions, split into two formats:
30-minute presentations: Professionals can share insights, methods, or case studies/scientific studies related to R+ based training.
45-minute practicals: Professionals lead practical training sessions (with a client and horse), showcasing their techniques/approaches.
Topics include:
Using stationary behaviour as a foundation for building new skills.
The role of medication in supporting horses with anxiety and fear.
Back chaining to reduce reinforcement while increasing motivation.
Cooperative care in equine dentistry, focusing on trust and voluntary participation.
Eye-tracking technology to deepen our understanding of human-horse interactions.
Training semi-feral colts for safe handling under time constraints.
Understanding the unique behavioural traits of donkeys and mules in training.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn, discuss, and connect with fellow trainers!
Tickets (you should be a trainer or other equine professional using training in your work) are £45 for the whole day, bring your own lunch, tea and coffee provided.
