About the event

Lost in Translation? Not Anymore!
Lost in Translation? Not Anymore!

Arriving in a new country, surrounded by a different culture and unfamiliar ways of speaking, it’s easy to misinterpret what others mean. A simple phrase can feel confusing—or even triggering—because of our own biases and expectations.

What if the way you hear those messages wasn’t automatic, but something you could actually choose? In this 2-hour interactive workshop, you’ll explore how to listen beyond assumptions and tune in with empathy and clarity. Through playful exercises and reflection, you’ll practice understanding yourself and others more deeply, and reclaiming the freedom to respond in ways that bridge cultures rather than create distance.

By learning to listen differently, you’ll find more ease in building meaningful connections, clearer communication, and a smoother journey wherever you land.

Stella Angelaki is a Nonviolent Communication trainer with extensive experience in designing and facilitating experiential workshops and training programs for adults and youth groups. She works with small, participatory groups in multicultural and digital environments, blending creativity, organizational skills, and academic expertise (Master’s in Cognitive Science, Bachelor’s in Biology). Her goal is to create safe, supportive, and inclusive learning spaces where people can explore practical communication tools, strengthen empathy and build meaningful connections with themselves and others. She is currently in the process of certification with the Center for Nonviolent Communication ( https://www.cnvc.org/ ) in the U.S.A. and working closely under the guidance of her assessor.

Helen Galerakis is the founder of Cretan Wild and a passionate community builder. While her work often takes people into nature and movement, at the heart of everything she does is connection — to place, to self, and to each other. In this event, Helen brings her energy for creating warm, welcoming spaces that encourage real conversation and human connection.
