Rod Cady's Recovery Benefit

On February 8th, Rod and his family’s lives got turned upside down. He had been battling Influenza A for almost a week and ended up leaving in the ambulance that morning. He was placed on a BiPAP machine to help him breathe and lots of blood thinners. He ended up on a high dose of steroids to help his lungs heal. After 13 days in the ICU, Rod started bleeding internally due to side effects of the medications. He had a bleeding ulcer that ended up perforating his stomach, which left him fighting for his life. He was placed on life support for 5 days. During that time, he had a blood clot in his lung and a major surgery to fix the ulcer.

Almost 2 months later, he now has a perforated colon that is infecting his abdomen. He will have a feeding tube for up to 3 months to hopefully allow his belly to heal.

To top it off, the company he has worked for 30 years closed a week into his journey with no severance pay. His fiancée, Bridgette, eventually had to close her daycare to be there for Rod and his recovery.
