September 26 is the Final Friday Art Walk
by Sara Penny, CCAC Vice President
The Final Friday Art Walk on Sept. 26 features the Blue Ponies at the Shape Theory Ceramics Studio. The Blue Ponies are Corbin Robinson and Todd Petersen, playing original blues, folk, and rock songs. Events go from 5 to 8 p.m.
Local violinists are invited to come and play the Bach Double during the community recital at 6:00 p.m. in the Johnson Center. Orchestra of Southern Utah musicians Crystal Van Duren, Ronda Gardner, Tanisa Crosby, April Richardson, Suzanne Tegland, Kasey Hinton, and Derek Wood will perform in the recital. Several local string students will also join in, with music ranging from Jurassic Park by John Williams to music by Elgar.
The popular SideNote vocal quartet will appear at the Southern Utah Museum of Art plaza, and the Jazz Alliance is set to perform at the IG Winery. More musician information is below.
"What makes these Art Walks so special is the way our whole community comes together," said Roger Gold, CCAC President. "We’ve loved watching children discover new art, neighbors linger to hear a song, and artists generously share their time and talent. It’s a reminder of how much creativity and connection we have right here in Cedar City."
The Art Walk includes artists and live music from Artisans to the Southern Utah Museum of Art, as well as at the galleries at 111 South Main, and down 100 West to the Johnson Center and Shape Theory Ceramics.
This free public event is coordinated by the Cedar City Arts Council. There is no vendor fee and the Art Walk is designed to be family friendly. Set-up on the lawn at 100 West Center begins at 4:30 p.m. Thanks to everyone who participates. For more information, or to schedule the open music spot, please contact us at
