The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (aka Pine Creek Gorge) is one of PAs greatest gems. Enjoy many breath-taking vistas of Pine Creek Gorge daily. Following the West Rim Trail, we will also likely catch peak bloom for the millions of mountain laurel that grow along the canyon rim!
This 3 day, 2 night backpacking route is ~29 mile on a point-to-point trail following the West Rim (trail) of the PA Grand Canyon. Considering trail logistics we will need to cover ~12 miles the first two days, so time on feet training is highly recommended (check out the Golden Eagle Ruck, included with your registration!). The trail begins with a long, gradual climb on day 1, with most of our following elevation gain accrued from periodic ventures into gullies where we can access streams, which eventually flow into Pine Creek below.

As with most Wild Roots guided backpacking trips, we will begin hiking early Friday morning and front-load the adventure so that we can have time on Sunday to grab grub nearby! The post hike dinner is a great way to cap & commemorate your experience with others.
This trip offers a full immersion into the back country, with both nights primitive camping along the trail near seasonal streams to gather water for drinking, cooking with, or laying in if you'd like. If we are lucky, we might just catch the tail end of the mountain laurel bloom as well!
Please note this is a point - to - point trail. Additional shuttle fees to be expected.

Cancelation Policy:
-If canceling 28 days prior, full refund minus $15 processing fees
-If canceling between 28 days and 2 days prior, 25% refund
-NO REFUNDS if canceling within 48 hours of the event
-Wild Roots will only cancel in the event that the governor declares a state of emergency, or less than 3 hikers are registered. Refunds or transfers can be discussed in these cases.
