Salomania is a performance project that takes as its starting point the story of Salome, a dancing girl who in exchange for a dance before a lustful king asks for and receives the head of a prophet. A simple story that has twisted and turned over centuries.
This original piece was developed by Meg Araneo and features David Skeist, Tony Torn, and Michael Mullen with dramaturgy by Jess Applebaum. The production explores questions of aging, precarity, and grief through the playful and chaotic lenses of variety entertainments and the carnivalesque.
Join us for a work-in-progress showing on either May 16 or 17 at 8 pm at the Thomas Cole House in Catskill, NY. Salomania is produced by Citizen Arts and Education and presented in collaboration with the Catwalk Institute and the Thomas Cole House National Historic Site. The showing follows a residency at the Catwalk Institute.
