It’s your chance to ‘dance like nobody’s watching’ when, for one song, and one night only, all eyes are on you.
Hot Moves No Pressure (HMNP) is a community dance extravaganza where anyone can take the lead. Think sequins, think kitsch, think rock eisteddfod. Channel ‘80s power ballads, dreamy double denim and the hottest moves this side of the Calder.
HMNP is an inclusive, affirmative event, celebrating people of all genders, all abilities, and all bodies.

2025 NEWS FROM DANCE MOM
Mommy has been doing some manifesting and wants you to know that there will be some ch-ch-ch-ch-changes to the Hot Moves you know and love:
Firstly, Mommy’s turning down the anxiety on the admin warriors. You will now have a full 12 hours to register your group's interest in performing at HMNP. Registrations will open on Saturday the 26th of April at 9am. Entries will go into a ballot to be drawn by Castlemaine Royalty, with teams announced on Sunday the 27th of April.
Don’t have a team? Don’t stress! Mommy has been chatting to the wonderful Castlemaine Community House and they have hatched a plan to help. More on that soon.
What’s staying the same?
- Mommy is keeping both the ‘battle’ and the ‘no pressure’ rounds. It’s a real ‘choose your own adventure’ out here.
- Dance groups choose their song (or mega mix), with any clashes decided by Mommy. She will use a first picked first served preferential system. If you continue to fight over a song, Mommy will take it off you and no one will get to play with it.
- Numbers will, as always, be tighter than Mommy’s spandex. So your best chance to attend HMNP is to register to dance at HMNP. - Mommy will always focus on her dancers first and her audience second. Updates on how your cheer squad can attend will come later - so stop asking Mommy questions, she’s very busy.
- Boomtown, our spiritual home, will kindly be hosting us again and have promised to up the viewing space and allow a few more punters through the door.
