Due to the popularity of this event, individuals may only participate in this class once every 5 years.
The session will be on September 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This class is intended for anglers looking to take their fly fishing knowledge to the next level. Basic fly casting and fishing skills are required to attend this class. Attending the 'Exploring Fly Fishing: Learn the Basics' class is a good place to obtain basic fly casting skills.
Anglers will attend 3 stations throughout the day learning advanced casting techniques, streamside basics & equipment, and fly tying. At the end of the day, anglers will fish Cold Creek with flies they tied as part of the class. No catch and release is allowed. All anglers age 16 and older are required to have a valid Ohio fishing license.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fly rod. If you do not have one, we will provide equipment. This clinic will be held rain or shine so dress for being outside. You will want to bring drinks, snacks (no drinks or snacks will be provided), bug spray, sunscreen, rain gear, boots (grass may be wet, you will not be wading in the water), hat with a bill, camera, stringer and a cooler (at least a medium size, 40 quart is ideal) with ice for your fish and a long handled net if you have one. It is strongly suggested that you wear a hat with a bill and glasses to protect your eyes.
Funds generated from the sale of fishing licenses go toward conserving and restoring habitat, enforcement of fishing regulations, hatchery operations, fish stocking in public fishing areas, enhancement of research, and educational outreach.
