Surface crochet is a technique that effectively allows you to “draw” on your projects by adding a slip stitch design to your finished object! This workshop will focus on the surface crochet technique and offer tips and tricks for the process.
Most anything can be embellished with surface crochet, but for the purposes of this class, we will focus on using it on more straightforward projects – a baby blanket, a pillow, a bag, etc. Some suggested patterns are linked below, but feel free to bring any project that is easy to work with (i.e., a project with a large, flat panel where both sides are easily accessible). You will need to handle both sides of your project for this, so if you plan to make a pillow or another item that is sewn shut at the end, bring just the panel you want to surface crochet.

About the teacher:
When Jordan moved to Wyoming and experienced her first winter, she wasn’t sure what she was going to do with all her time indoors — until she found crochet! She has been crocheting for a little over 2.5 years and has been working at Wool and Whimsy since February. She loves crochet but has recently diversified by learning how to knit. Her goal is to teach classes where everyone feels empowered to create what they want.
