SENIOR FIT TEST
Understanding your current fitness levels as an older adult can help you develop a plan to pursue your best health and wellness in the future. The Free Senior Fit Test Saturday Event is designed to help you assess your current upper and lower body strength, cardiorespiratory capacity, and dynamic and static balance.
Scores on your assessments will let you know how you compare to your same age and gender peers and give you an idea about areas of strength for you, and areas for improvement. Each person will leave with a report card with their scores. Sign up here to secure a spot. The event will begin promptly at 9:30 am with a short meeting in the basement level yoga studio, and then you will be placed in a small group for assessments. We will likely finish by 11 am or before, depending on the number of participants. Once you have completed your assessments, you are free to go. Here are the different assessments we will be facilitating:
Six-minute walk (cardiorespiratory capacity)- Outdoors in the parking lot
30-second chair stand test (lower body strength)
Timed up and go test (dynamic balance)
Unipedal balance test (static balance)
30-second curl test (upper body strength)
(In case of inclement weather, the six-minute walk will be cancelled, but the other assessments will still take place)
