UNICEF KID ZONE AT THE SOCCER TOURNAMENT (TST)

UNICEF USA will host the “UNICEF Kid Zone” at The Soccer Tournament (TST) on Saturday, June 7th. The Kid Zone will be a place for children under the age of 18 to participate in structured and unstructured play. Participants can engage in soccer skills, crafts and use their voice to share why play is important to them. UNICEF USA CEO and President Michael J. Nyenhuis, UNICEF Ambassador Sofia Carson (The Life List) and Olympic gold medalist and UNICEF Ambassador Laurie Hernandez will lead various activities during the morning session.

In addition to activities, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to learn more about UNICEF’s work to ensure that every child is healthy, educated, protected and respected.

Every child has the right to thrive and reach their highest potential through the power of play. June 11th marks the second annual International Day of Play and is a moment to celebrate the universal joy and spirit of play. Around 1 in 10 in children aged 2-4 miss out on activities with their caregivers that are critical to promoting cognitive, social, and emotional development. UNICEF recognizes play as an important means to help children affected by adverse experiences and encourages educators, parents and caregivers to implement play at school and home.
