Rector's Forum: Remembering God’s Presence in the Midst of Conflict

Conflict is part of life—but it doesn’t have to be the end of the story. Our faith gives us tools to face conflict with courage, grace, and even hope.

Join us for this week’s Adult Education Hour with Dr. Ellen Ott Marshall, Professor of Christian Ethics and Conflict Transformation at Candler School of Theology and in the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University. Dr. Marshall’s work focuses on contemporary Christian ethics, with special attention to violence, peacebuilding, and conflict transformation. Her most recent book is Parenting for a Better World (co-edited with Susanna Snyder, Chalice Press, 2022). She is also a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta.

Together, we’ll reflect on how God’s presence can transform moments of struggle into opportunities for growth. We’ll draw on the beautiful words of the baptismal prayer:

“Give us an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works.”
