NEDERLAND, TX – Mike Zito, the acclaimed blues-rock guitarist and multiple Blues Music Award-winner, is set to release his deeply personal new album Life Is Hard on February 23, 2024 via Gulf Coast Records. Produced by blues heavyweights Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith, the album was recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood and features 12 emotionally charged tracks — including the heartfelt title track, “Life Is Hard,” out January 12.

"This is the best album I’ve ever made in my life," says Zito. Written as a tribute to his late wife Laura, the record blends original songs and covers of iconic artists like Stevie Wonder, Little Milton, Walter Trout, Tab Benoit, and Reverend Gary Davis.

• “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” (Rev. Gary Davis)
• “Forever My Love” – a Zito original featuring French horn arrangements

Zito’s last solo release, Blues for the Southside, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, while Resurrection won the 2022 Blues Music Award for “Blues Rock Album.” Earlier this year, his collaboration with Albert Castiglia on Blood Brothers topped both Billboard and iTunes blues charts and earned critical acclaim.

With a storied career including his time in Royal Southern Brotherhood and production work for Samantha Fish, Ally Venable, and more, Zito remains one of today’s most respected voices in blues. He’s also the co-founder of Gulf Coast Records, helping to shape the modern blues landscape since 2018.
