Steel String Brewery 12 Year Anniversary Bash!

Steel String Brewery is turning 12 and we're throwing a party to celebrate with the folks who made it all possible — you!

Join us on Sunday, May 18th - 2pm-9pm to celebrate 12 years of local beer and local music at Steel String’s Carrboro taproom.

For this special occasion we're taking over the parking spaces out front and expanding the patio with more seating for outdoor live tunes by some of our favorite local musicians.

First up is Steel String's very own Sticky Maze, a killer guitar player and the host of our weekly Monday Open Mic Night playing experimental funk rock.

Hailing from Western Massachusetts, Johnny Sunrise is an indie folk singer-songwriter who draws inspiration from love, longing, the “quarter-life crisis,” and the uncertainty of life. Johnny is joined by the uber talented duo of Gabby Messner (bass) and Jake Richter (drums), whose contributions take the live show to another level. Johnny has carved a place in the Carrboro music scene over the past year or so performing original songs with honest lyrics and a soulful voice. Always with a smile and a healthy dose of banter.

Formed in Chapel Hill, NC, The Rattletraps are a band of songwriters who create a culmination of roots rock, country and blues music. With songs about bar fights, working dead end jobs, and the streets of New Orleans, The Rattletraps find ways to create anthems that are bitter, cynical, and just the right amount of pissed off.

Thom Middlebrook is a cross between a Platypus and a Swiss Army Knife which, depending upon your point of view, is either a train wreck or tremendously versatile. He is a competent musician, stand up comic, radio host, graphic designer, photographer, and has made himself a career in the fine arts. In short, he is insufferable.
