Freight Train Blues 2025

Freight Train Blues is back for 2025! Join us from 6:30-8:30 pm on May 16-June 13 for five FREE Friday evening concerts featuring incredible roots musicians steeped in the diverse traditions of the Carolina Piedmont.

The Town of Carrboro, N.C., proudly presents the Music Maker Foundation’s 11th annual Freight Train Blues series of live concerts at the Carrboro Town Commons, 301 W. Main Street.

May 30: Dedicated Men of Zion, Faith & Harmony

June 6: Conjunto Breve

June 13: Gail Ceasar, Lakota John Locklear

Bring your picnic, lawn chairs, and blankets for a FREE evening of live music on the lawn! Public parking is available and free in downtown Carrboro. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site from local food trucks.

Music Maker Foundation's Freight Train Blues series honors Elizabeth "Libba" Cotten’s legacy in the world of roots music by emphasizing the cultural diversity, complexity, and vitality of her music and the music of many other artists local to her community and all over the country.

The series is a collaboration among Music Maker Foundation, the Town of Carrboro, WUNC 91.5 FM, and The Forests at Duke.
