Join us for an evening of nocturnal nature discovery as part of the Great Southern BioBlitz 2025! As the sun sets, we’ll be setting up moth traps to attract some of the amazing local insect life, and heading out with bat detectors to listen for our night-flying mammal neighbours.
🔦 What to expect:
A acoustic bat walk using ultrasonic detectors to hear and identify local bat species
Moth trapping to observe and document the diversity of moths and other nocturnal insects
Learn how to use iNaturalist to record your observations and contribute to citizen science
🎒 What to bring:
Torch or headlamp (preferably with red light function)
Closed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
Smartphone with iNaturalist app installed
Free event – no experience necessary but places are limited and registration is required!
A great opportunity for families, nature lovers, and citizen scientists to get involved in documenting local biodiversity.
