This is a mini taster to have a go at willow weaving and is part of the Tywi Valley Open Studios 2025
**Booking Essential**
Time: 5.30pm - 7.30pm (2 hours) £20 per person
What will you learn?
We will make a small, cone shaped basket that you can use as a bird feeder (fatballs), garlic holder, fruit holder etc
You will learn a variety of weaves:
3 rod wale to build the main body
pairing weave to build the spiral
You will also learn how to manage the willow rods in order to manipulate the shape of the basket
All materials and tools are provided.
About the tutor: Justine Burgess of West Wales Willows.
Justine originally trained as an engineer, and worked in the charity and education sectors, before becoming a partner in West Wales Willows with her husband, Alan. On their smallholding in Carmarthenshire, they grow around 250 varieties of willow and Justine weaves with willow and teaches a wide range of workshops in Wales.
The course will be run at our home workshop at The Mill, Gwernogle, Carmarthen, SA32 7SA
You can also look round our willow fields and look at our 250 varieties and living willow dome. A variety of baskets and other willow items will be available to purchase.
NB We don’t sell willow for weaving but can guide you to suppliers in Somerset.
