THE COURSE LEADER: Rick Kemp is a bass player, songwriter, producer, guitarist and singer (Steeleye Span, Michael Chapman, The Maddy Prior Band, The Gathering, Whapweasel). His career is life-long and demonstrates many skills. He produced many records and his songs have been covered hundreds of times.
COURSE CONTENT: Want to finish some longstanding projects? Haven't had the inspiration or time to focus on them? Want to start from scratch on a new song writing chapter? This weekend is always bursting with tricks and tips to get you thinking, creating and working outside of your usual patterns. There is an emphasis on starting and finishing a new song so you can feel that sense of achievement that comes with putting a full stop on a creative project. Rick is a very skilled and accomplished songwriter and facilitates groups to be supportive and encouraging. There is lots of opportunity to collaborate on an informal performance of your own material. There are usually deep revelations and belly laughs galore!

This song writing weekend has been running for many years here at Stones Barn during
which seasoned writers have left with whole bodies of work, others have written their first
fully-realised, completed song, bands have been formed, many laughs have been had and
life-long friends made.
WHO IS IT FOR: This course includes lots of time and space to work on your own material and lots of
difference exercises and activities to inspire productivity and different thinking about different
techniques. There will also be exercises to foster collaborative working and there will be the
occasional group activity.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Some techniques for song writing inspiration to help get projects started, keep them going and for finishing songs. This course gives you the time, space and opportunity to really focus on your song writing. The inspiration also comes from hearing the projects others are working on. These weekends are always very productive and very fun! Plus you will meet like-minded people, have the chance to make new and interesting friends and eat lots of lovely food.
