About the event

Becky Sharp (1935)
Becky Sharp (1935) is a landmark piece of colour cinema – the first feature film to use three-strip Technicolor production throughout. An adaptation of Langdon Mitchell’s 1899 play of the same name, itself a spin on William Makepeace Thackery’s 1848 novel Vanity Fair.

Directed by Rouben Mamoulian and starring Miriam Hopkins as the titular character, Becky Sharp centres on a young woman’s ambition to climb the social ladder during the tail end of the Napoleonic Wars.

Runtime 84 minutes. Film starts 2.15pm

Part of our In Glorious Technicolour films series.

Tickets £5
