Carnival vibes!
We’re bringing a hint of Carnival to Carlisle with a mix of traditional and modern music, Carnival costume, and dance breakouts.
Creative kids’ zone!
Dancing and cartoons in the morning, and African Batik textile printing all afternoon! Join artists Tina Ramos Enkongo to play with African patterns, learn about how they connect to different tribes, and make your own colourful print!
Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.
Crafty community!
Craft demonstrations in our community corner including jewellery making, hair braiding and styling.
Artisan stalls!
Stallholders selling products including clothing, gifts, and a big Afrikana raffle.
Guided colour exhibition tours!
Special spotlight tours throughout the day focusing on the meaning of colour – looking at African artefacts and art works by Zanele Muholi, Angélica Dass and Keith Piper.

About Africana CIC
Afrikana is a welcoming social enterprise designed to bring people together through events where the community can connect, share ideas, and exchange valuable information.
Its mission is to support immigrants in seamlessly integrating into life in Carlisle and Cumbria by addressing key challenges such as cultural adaptation, community inclusion, and mental well-being.
All activities are free. Admission costs apply for general access to colour exhibition, with free access for some activities during the event. No booking required.
