Afternoon Free Organ Recital: Igor Sikorski

We look forward to welcoming organist Igor Sikorski from Ukraine on Wednesday 13th August for an Organ Recital organised as part of the Free Live Music Series at Carlisle Cathedral.

While entry to our concerts is complimentary we encourage contributions during the collection at the end of each performance to support both the talented artists and the Cathedral. Your generosity will help us continue to bring such events to the community. We look forward to seeing you there!

About the artist:

Igor Sikorski born on 17 May 1994 in Kyiv.

He began his artistic education at the age of 16 in the piano and organ class at the Kyiv State Music School in the class of N. Desiatnik.

In April 2012 he participated in the Polish-Ukrainian Organ Music Festival in the city of Letychiv (Ukraine). As part of the festival he took part in workshops under the direction of Dr. J. Wroblewski (UMFC in Warsaw). In August 2013 he took part in the 4th Organ Competition in the town of Krasnobród where he won a diploma for the best performance of a work by a Polish composer.

In 2014-2020 he continued his education at the W. Żeleński Secondary Music School in the organ class of Agnieszka Walcza. In May 2017 he took part in the 4th National Organ Competition in Bielsko-Bialek where he won a distinction and played at the laureates' concert. As part of the competition he took part in workshops under the direction of Dr K. Urbaniak (Academy of Music in Łódź).

Since September 2020 he regularly attends private conducting classes with Prof. Dr. hab. Monika Bachowska - where he also collaborates with the Krakow choir ‘Insiema’ and the Krakow chamber orchestra ‘Fresko Sonare ’under the baton of Prof. Dr. hab. Monika Bachowska .

On 1 September 2022 he began studies at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in the class of Prof. dr hab. Piotr Rojek.

In the summer semester 2023-2024 he was on Erazmus+ at HfM Detmold (Germany) in the class of Prof. Tomasz Adam Nowak.
