Transformative Approaches to Conflict

Transforming conflict in organising and campaign groups

​Resist + Renew is thrilled to be hosting another two day Conflict Workshop - this time in Cardiff!

Over two consecutive Saturday’s we will explore approaches to conflict informed by the values of transformative justice, collective care and anti-oppression.

​When conflict arises in our organising spaces, many of us struggle to put the transformative principles and values we hold into practice. This can impact our relationships in and with organising spaces, adding more challenges to the hard work of social transformation that we came together to do.

Resist + Renew has been developing some tools and activities to facilitate learning for people who are organising for social justice, to feel more equipped to engage with conflict in their groups.

​If you are the kind of person who is keen to:

• Understand how societal and cultural norms affect how we experience and engage in conflict
• Develop your understanding of the different reactions people can have to conflict (e.g. stress responses)
• Learn some tools and frames to understand conflict when it happens
• Build your confidence to engage with conflict through experiential practice

​When: Saturday 22nd November AND Saturday 29th November (10am - 4.30pm both days)

​Where: The Green Room, Grange Pavilion, Grange Gardens, Cardiff CF11 7LJ

​Who is this training for?

​If you organise in a movement group, this training is for you! We have designed it to be useful for people in grassroots groups, but it is also available to people who do paid work in organisations.

​COVID precautions:

• ​Please test before coming and don’t come if you have any new symptoms, even if you test negative
• ​We will be asking people to wear masks throughout the workshop if that’s possible.

Snacks and Breaks

​Please bring your own lunch for each day. We will provide teas, coffees and snacks (including options that are vegan and gluten free).

​There will be regular breaks throughout the workshop.

​This training is offered for free, but we encourage a sliding scale of contribution where possible, from £5 to £100.
