About Your Trainers:
This training is led by experienced ASIST Master Trainers, Chris Wright (The Wellbeing Guy) and Sarah Jones (Uplifted Wellbeing).
Chris brings over 15 years of expertise in wellbeing and mental health, having worked in various settings including education and the third sector. He combines practical experience with a strong foundation in NLP and coaching.
Sarah offers over 30 years of experience in supporting individuals, having worked with organizations like Mind and GDAS. Her deep understanding of mental health challenges makes her a valuable asset to the training team.

It's important to consider your current mental wellbeing. If you're experiencing thoughts of suicide, recent bereavement due to suicide, or significant mental health challenges, please consider if now is the right time for you to attend. ASIST training focuses on developing skills to help others, and is not a therapy space. Please reach out to the organisers if you'd like to discuss prior to bookings.

Info: We'll start by considering the need for skills like ASIST, getting to grips with topics such as prevelance of suicide in Wales and critiquing how this is reported and recorded. We'll also get a feel for the backgrounds of attendees on the training.
Info: An opportunity for the group the connect and understand the helping experiences or hopes for training that everyone is bringing with them. We'll also deepen our self awareness of our beliefs and attitudes towards suicide, considering how these may impact an intervetion.
Info: We'll start to introduce the 6 steps of ASIST's PAL (Pathway for Assisting Life) model, focusing on how we meet the needs of the person with thoughts of suicide.
Info: We spend most of Day 2 testing out ASIST's PAL intervention model in lots of different situations, ensuring you feel ready, willing and able to apply your new skills to a range of situaitons. In this section we cover a lot of the 'what ifs' that people often worry about.
Info: Our 'last look in the mirror' before heading out into our communities as ASIST trainer Care Givers. We'll cover considerations for providing ASIST support in professional and person contexts as well as situations where we my not be the right person to provide support.
