The 30th Anniversary of the Unity of Tribes Gathering is a momentous occasion that celebrates the enduring spirit of unity and shared vision, inspired by the wisdom of Black Elk.
This gathering serves as a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of all people and cultures, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect. Black Elk, a revered Oglala Lakota leader and visionary, spoke of a deep spiritual connection and harmony among all living beings. His teachings continue to resonate, urging us to look beyond our differences and embrace a collective path towards peace and understanding.
In August 1995, Doris Mclean helped organized the gathering in Tagish. People journeyed from all over Turtle Island and each brought a rock to contribute to the creation of a medicine wheel. This wheel still stands in a meadow near the Tagish Bridge. It continues to turn, and it feels like it's calling us back.
We invite you to join us through shared stories, ceremonies, and cultural exchanges to pay tribute to the visionaries of this movement and Black Elk's legacy.
It's a call to action for us and our future generations to uphold these values.
Bring your camp gear, some food to share and your fellowship.
Please bring a rock to add to the medicine wheel!
