Public Broadcasting: A Time of Change

Please join us at the Carbondale Township Hall (back entrance) for this presentation by Jeff Williams on the changes facing WSIU, a hugely important community resource. For the first time in its history, public broadcasting--with 350 PBS stations across the US--is on its own, financially. The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 paved the way for public radio and TV as we’ve known it. Now, the foundation with which stations have operated for nearly 60-years and built their model for community service has radically changed. During his talk, Jeff will speak with us on this new reality for public broadcasting, which will significantly alter how many stations, including WSIU, are able to continue serving their communities.
