The Popular cafe Blues Sessions returns again in full Blues de Force on the 4th of Sept. Richard Pryor has put together a Fresh and very exciting lineup. This is the Blues that will take away your Blues and every show offers something different with this one covering Blues styles with Jazz, Soul, Rock & Funk Infusions.
Lucy Tops - Vocals & Backing Vocals
Keegan Williams - Vocals & backing Vocals
David Goldberg - Vocals & Keyboards
Richard Pryor - Guitars
Steve de Sousa - Bass
Kevin Gibson - Drums
& Surprise Guest
Hailing from the Band 'The Groove Missionaries' Keegan Williams delivers songs with a Robust & Powerful Voice that resonates long after the show has ended. His vocal delivery oozes soul that captures the spirit of Blues, Funk & Rock n Roll. Also a multi instrumentalist and percussionist he will be revisiting his Roots that have now developed Fruits. Covering artists From Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones to Clapton, BB King & James Brown, when he makes his move, you're gonna get the Groove.
From the 70s Rock & Pop corner we have the enigmatic Lucy Tops who has made a name for herself as a powerhouse singer, songwriter and actress, Lucy has wowed audiences in productions like Funny Girl, The Rocky Horror Show, and the award-nominated Bar None. Lucy is a musical force to be reckoned with and she will be delivering Blues Rock Soul Inspired Songs with Elegance & Flamboyance. Expect a magic carpet ride back to a time when things were fine.
Having racked up thousands of Live gigs David Goldberg enters the Blues Fray again with character, energy and his signature style of Quantum Keyboard Entanglement. When he Flies the Notes fly and when he brings it down the notes waft gently to the ground. He has a Passion for music that he clearly wears on his sleeve. Expect strong vocals, soulful harmonies and off the cuff improvisation that is guranteed to refuel your Mojo.
On the Bass & Drums we have the very impressive duo of Kevin Gibson on the Drums and Steve de Sousa on Electric Bass. A more accomplished backline you may be hard pressed to find anywhere else in SA. They have played together many times in some of South Africa's premier jazz concerts and the skill that these two have may not be necessary to play the Blues, But we're keen to see how far we can take things as they are given leeway to really stretch things out and bring some enlightning elements of Jazz to the Blues.
Holding it all together and honing his comedic Skills, Richard Pryor will be delivering a Blues Rock Guitar experience with a couple new licks and some old forgotten tricks. Expect him to build a solid Blues Fort which he will protect with Fire and Brimstone when under attack from any AI generated sound.
There could also be a Special Guest joining the show but at this point we are not sure of his/her whereabouts, but are hopeful we will be able to make some sort of contact before the 4th of Sept.
So can yer dig it? ...... Get your Tickety Diggets now ....and we'll do the rest.
