We’re reaching out with full hearts and heavy shoulders.
Our 12-year-old son, Julian, is on the autism spectrum and lives with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and temporal lobe epilepsy — a rare and complex combination that causes terrifying, hallucinatory, and sometimes psychotic seizures and episodes.
Lately, things have become especially tough. For the past two months, Julian’s episodes have intensified — often hitting hardest at night — and we’ve been caring for him around the clock. During these episodes, he can become physical, which has made it especially difficult to protect our two younger children while keeping Julian safe and supported.
Our family has had to put everything else on hold — including our work and income — to be fully present for him. It's been emotionally and financially overwhelming.
That’s why our incredible friends and fellow musicians have come together to organize this special evening: Jam for Julian — a benefit concert to raise funds that will help us:
Pay for a professional care helper so we can rest, recover, and regroup.
Cover the specialist support and costs related to Julian’s ongoing care.
Support our family through this incredibly difficult chapter.
It’s not easy to ask for help, but we know the power of community and music. If you can support by attending, donating, or simply sharing this event, we’d be deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with Julian, and with us.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Kielczynski Family
Musicians on the night are: Sons of trout (all except Mike Rennie-violin) now known as "some of trout',
Wren Hinds, Hyena (Mike & Nick’s new project), Jonno Sweetman, Richard Brokensha (from ISO), Rob Nel and James Kielczynski
