June 28 · Morris & The Hepcats
Featuring acclaimed Syracuse guitarist Morris Tarbell, this four-piece band plays a good-time mix of rockabilly, blues, swing, and surf guitar as well as versions of classic rock songs in those styles. Morris has been the featured guitarist with Central New York bands Built For Comfort and Corn-Bred and has shared the stage with such musical greats as The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Johnny Winter, and Buddy Guy. The Hepcats feature Rock Carbone (drums/vocals), Bob Sherwood (bass/vocals), and Nel Tarbell (vocals).
July 5 · Skip Starr & The Renditions
Skip Starr & The Renditions perform a fresh, fun take on timeless '50s and '60s rock-n-roll classics. Veteran entertainer Skip Starr leads the ensemble with his classic vocal and rhythm guitar stylings. Rob LaClair’s lead guitar adds a modern, vibrant edge to the classics while “Honey Bob" Laisdell’s blues steeped bass grounds the band solidly in early rock’s musical traditions. On drums, Joe Fedorko’s driving backbeat and thrilling fills reinvigorate the tunes you love. Greasers and bobby soxers alike will shake, rattle, and roll when this exciting show band takes the stage.
July 19 · Simba Marimba
Simba Marimba plays music from the repertory of the Kwanongoma marimba, an instrument uniquely African and played in the Shona culture of Zimbabwe. The band members are students and alumni of the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, led by percussionist/music educator Greg Doscher. The repertory was taught to the band by Simbarashe Kamuriwo, a Zimbabwean living in the northeastern United States.
Aug. 2 · Foolish Pride
Following in the tradition of the raucous, overdriven tones of classic rock, scorching and soulful blues, and improvisational psychedelic soundscapes, Foolish Pride serves up an eclectic blend of covers and original music that runs from A(llman Brothers Band) to Z(eppelin). Hailing from Potsdam, the band features Trevor Blank (vocals/guitar), Ben Lacy (guitar/vocals), Carter Jones (bass/ backing vocals), Joey Thomas (keys), and Sean Tierson (drums).
Aug. 9 · Let's Cool One
Let's Cool One plays live jazz (instrumental and vocal) ranging in styles from swing and bebop standards to funk and fusion presented in a lively, spontaneous fashion. Members include a mix of local North Country veteran musicians infused with the energy, curiosity, and talents of some great younger generation players. Members include Steve Adams (drums), Lisa Forshaw (voice), Alex Horeth (keys), Jack Wiley, (bass), and Jim Wiley (sax).
Aug. 16 · Ron Spencer Band
For over 25 years Ron Spencer has been a mainstay of the Central New York blues scene, lending his fiery blend of blues and roots-based guitar playing to some of the area’s premier artists. He has shared the stage with such guitar heavyweights as Duke Robillard, Anson Funderburgh, Bob Margolin, and Rick Holmstrom and has toured with Chicago's queen of the blues, Big Time Sarah.
