If you'd like to become a part of our team at Mississippi Horse Rescue, the meet and greet is a great way to see exactly what we do and to meet our team members.
Training/grooming: We will explain how to become a part of our training program that is mandatory for anyone who will be handling horses. This program starts with the very basics from safely catching a horse in the pasture, to getting one under saddle.
Office Work: There are always thank you notes that need to be written, records that need to be filed and so many other clerical duties that we seem to never find time to do.
Horse Advocacy Team: We get calls almost daily from law enforcement concerning abused and neglected horses. We assist them with the legalities as well as help them find safe places for the horses to go. We have volunteers statewide that are our boots on the ground that allow us to know whats going on, but we always need more help!
Transport: We can always use help transporting horses to their new homes or transporting horses to and from the vet, and help when we have a large seizure situation.
Foster/Training: There are a couple of ways you can be a foster. Homes that can quarantine - sometimes for as long as 3 months, homes that can rehabilitate the emaciated or injured horse, homes that can give a young horse time to grow or tame a wild one.
Social media/web site: This is certainly a weak spot for us. We are usually on a tractor, transporting horses, at the vet, feeding, training, you name it, so social media often gets put on the back burner.
If you'd like to be a part of our team, we hope you'll come and get a tour, meet our barn crew and learn where you can best fit in to help horses in need. For more information please send us your contact information in a private message and someone will be in touch. THANK YOU!! @followers
