This class will have two main parts:
1.) Hoof Anatomy
a. Internal - exploring how the trim impacts skeletal alignment and the function of your horse as an athlete
b. Identifying unhealthy hooves - and simple ways to restore them to health
2.) Practice Trimming
a. Hands on Practice with my 5 favorite tools to make the job easier
b. Trim a real hoof. Many people resist trimming their own horse because they don't want to mess it up. In this class, we will use cadaver legs to practice on. This eliminates the concern of hurting the horse, and it allows you to focus on learning to trim safely without also having to manage the horse's body or your own.
Whether you’re looking to trim your own horses, maintain a balanced trim in between your farrier’s appointments, ensure your horse's boots fit throughout the trim cycle, or simply looking to better educate yourself on the the form and function of the equine hoof, this class will fan the flames of your curiosity and set you up for success.
