Stormy Weather Arts Festival: Copper Leaf & Form Workshop with Phil Seder #1

Fold forming is a metal-working technique that can be used to create forms of amazing complexity. Folding a copper leaf is a straightforward variation that can be quickly mastered and requires simple and inexpensive tools. The resulting leaves are a delightful foundation for more complex artistic creations or a simple stand-alone gift for friends and loved ones. With a bit of experience, the creatively inclined can move on to crafting new objects inspired by the symmetry and forms of nature.

This short hands-on workshop will allow you to explore these simple techniques. You will walk away with one or two finished creations that will delight you and friends alike.

Who It’s For:
This workshop is for beginners who are curious about working with metal in a creative, hands-on way. It’s especially suited for people who enjoy craft or art projects but have little or no prior experience with metal smithing.

Takeaway:
Participants leave with both a finished copper leaf they have made themselves and a foundational understanding of simple metalworking techniques- such as cutting, texturing, shaping, and finishing copper.
