Please join us this Sunday as we continue to think about the life of Abraham and the promises of God. Today, Abraham faces the biggest challenge of his life as God the Lord asks him to give up his precious son.
All this comes off the back of the incredible promises that God had made, that Abraham would become the father of a great nation. After many years of waiting, and through a miracle of God, Abraham and Sarah had finally been blessed with a son of their own.
So what is God up to, asking Abraham to give up this precious child? We’re told in these verses that this was a test of Abraham’s faith – would Abraham have the faith to take God at his word, even when he couldn’t understand why God would ask him to do such a thing?
All will become clear on Sunday as we think about the big themes of sacrifice and substitution and the God who himself provides a stand-in.
Our 10.30am service on Sunday will be an all-age service so children and young people will stay with us right through. The service will be more interactive and be a little shorter than normal.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in the church centre, please do stay if you can.
