Build your mountain biking skills from the ground up!
This beginner-friendly course, led by Trail Sports at the Canmore Nordic Centre, is designed to help new riders feel comfortable and confident on the trails. You’ll focus on three fundamental skills:
Position and Balance – Learn how to position your body for stability and control.
Operation of Controls – Understand how to use your gears and brakes effectively.
Terrain Awareness – Develop the ability to read and respond to the trail ahead.
Through participant-centred instruction, you’ll start with hands-on skill-building exercises, then put your new techniques into practice on easy single-track trails in one of the Rockies’ most scenic riding areas.
Perfect for anyone new to mountain biking or looking to refresh their basics before exploring more challenging terrain. Bike rental and helmets are included!
Getting there: Accessible by Roam Transit route 12 (free for everyone). Please note that all vehicles parking at the Nordic Centre require a Kananskis Conservation Pass.
What to wear: Bring layers, comfortable clothing, and sturdy footwear.
What to bring: Water, sun protection.
