Christ as God’s “Yes” to a Weary World

To welcome Christ is to dare to hope again, even when nothing looks hopeful.

The world into which Jesus is born is not tidy or peaceful; it is occupied, unjust, and anxious. Mary’s “Let it be with me according to your word” is an act of hope in the middle of uncertainty.

Welcoming Christ today means choosing hope as an act of resistance: believing that God is still at work in climate crisis, war, economic stress, loneliness, and in our own private worries. Hope is not wishful thinking; it is trusting that God’s “Yes” to life in Christ is stronger than every “no” the world throws at us.
