Who am I? Why am I here? Why do I do the things I do?
All profound questions that many of us confront professionally (and maybe should discuss with our therapist). In this workshop we deep dive into the 'Who and Why?' of Confidence and Character in both pop culture and burlesque with Valerie "Va Va" Valentine. In this guided exploration and educational we will:
- Build a deeper understanding of character
- Explore the 4th wall and why it's relevant to burlesque
- Develop tools to grow your presence and authenticity as a performer.
- Discuss how to communicate with your audience and why it matters.
- Tools to reach out and touch your audience while acknowledging comfort zone and consent.
Students say:
"I found the tools we spoke about (gesture, eye contact, physical touch etc) provided a valuable/meaningful way of approaching act development. The discussion about safety & consent between you as a performer and the audience was also really insightful!"
"Absolutely fantastic workshop - I think any performer could benefit from attending this workshop. It was so helpful to delve into the reasons why things work and why they don't, as well as learn from other people's perspectives and feelings."
"Really great workshop, enjoyed the discussion part and the individual mind mapping task."
