Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR) and aquatic conservation values. A talk by Jane Roberts

There has been increasing recognition that Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR) can have significant biodiversity values. For the most part, however, the values so recognised have been terrestrial, making it uncertain whether TSR have aquatic values that have been overlooked, or not. To explore whether TSR have aquatic and amphibious biodiversity values, and what those values might mean for conservation, several TSR in the Southern Tablelands were visited over a 2 to 3 year period. In this talk Jane will discuss the survey results and conservation implications.

Dr Jane Roberts is a wetland ecologist and ecological consultant who has worked extensively on vegetation and water management in the Murray-Darling Basin. Now retired, she continues to focus on riverine and wetland plants through research, photography, and citizen science, aiming to increase awareness of these plants in the region.

Jane’s talk will be held in the Slatyer Seminar Room, on the first floor of the R N Robertson Building, 46 Sullivans Creek Road at the ANU. Head up the stepped ramp on the right as you enter the building. Lifts are also available. The Slatyer room will be on your left at the front of the building. Light refreshments will be served from 7pm with the talk to start at 7.30pm. Please bring a keep cup or mug for coffee or tea. Non (and new!) members welcome!
