About the event

The Citizen Science of Giant Eucalypts – a talk by Steve Taylor
There is a nationwide project on iNaturalistAU hosted by the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA), concerning giant Eucalypts and their conservation ( https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/projects/giant-eucalypts)
It builds on observations and research from similar work in the past.
Steve’s talk looks at the history of the citizen science of giant Eucalypts, dating back before apps like iNaturalistAU and Canberra NatureMapr were available (and before the term citizen science was used). Also discussed is what can be achieved with the Giant Eucalypts project, and how Field Naturalists can become involved.
About the speaker: Steve Taylor has had a long career as a Ranger and Biosecurity program manager with the ACT Parks and Conservation Service. Now retired, he is a Citizen Science volunteer (i.e. Field Naturalist). His main interests are Eucalypts (a keen student) and environmental weeds (hard to ignore).

Steve’s talk will be held in the Slatyer Seminar Room, on the first floor of the R N Robertson Building, 46 Sullivans Creek Road at the ANU. Head up the stepped ramp on the right as you enter the building. Lifts are also available. The Slatyer room will be on your left at the front of the building. Light refreshments will be served from 7pm with the talk to start at 7.30pm. Please bring a keep cup or mug for coffee or tea. Non (and new!) members welcome!
